Ukulele for Beginners is designed for either the person who has never so much as picked up a ukulele as well as the person who may have learned a chord or 2 along the way but hasn't yet connected the dots to playing songs. We will learn chord shapes, tuning, strumming rhythms and come away able to strum some songs together! Join the party and connect with yourself and others through music.
Ukulele Ensemble
Wednesdays 7:15pm-8:15pm w/ Isaac
Prerequisite: Ukulele 1 or knowledge of 3-5 chords and strum pattern.

Ukulele Ensemble is the follow up to Ukulele 1. We will learn work with more complex chords and strumming as well as picking some melodies. If you’ve taken Ukulele 1 or already have 3-5 chords that you can change with relative ease, this class is for you! Join this literal party! This class is designed to take multiple times as the song selections will vary!
Isaac’s Bio:
Isaac Gillespie is a musician, educator and all around bon vivant based in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Having spent over a decade playing ukulele and teaching music in schools and libraries throughout the five boroughs, Isaac has developed an appreciation for the great variety in students and musical approaches. By night Isaac plays guitar and bass in bands and puts on shows. From 2009-2020 he played primarily in the rock band The Due Diligence, making three albums and a handful of east coast tours. Catch him now on the Brooklyn honky tonk scene playing and singing with Kyle & Isaac.

Charlie’s Bio:
Composer/author Charlie Rauh has been artist in residence for organizations including the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He is the author of “Simply, Patiently, Quietly” from String Letter Publishing - a combination of essays on creative approach, illustrations by Christina Rauh Fishburne, and a songbook of original compositions. Rauh’s work has been featured in Ploughshares, Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and The Advocate. He has given artist talks for music and literature departments at institutions including Louisiana State University, University of Tennessee, and New Jersey institute of Technology.

Guitar I is designed for total beginners. We will introduce the basics of playing guitar - chord shapes, tuning, rhythm, and some songs. Song selections will be based on the interest of the group. Come on out to kick back and connect with yourself and the community around you through music.

Guitar is our follow-up class from Guitar 1. If you have enjoyed Guitar 1 or you are an intermediate or beginner who knows 3-5 chords and some basic strumming you are welcome to come out! We will focus on learning full songs, introduce playing up the guitar neck and dive deeper into finding your styles, intuitive strum patterns and singing and playing at the same time.
Sheniqua’S Bio:
Sheniqua Trotman is a Brooklyn-based song leader, vocal empowerment coach, and founder of Elevated Expression. She creates welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds can sing, heal, and reclaim the power of their voices. Her circles center joy, liberation, and deep connection through song.

Adult Singing for Fun at Hootenanny! No pressure, no perfection, just pure joy! This class is for anyone who wants to sing, laugh, and connect. All voices are welcome from shower singers to performers. Come play with harmony, rhythm, and feel-good songs that will leave you smiling.
