FAQ

Can I come for a trial?

We offer trials in our parent and child Music and Art classes when we have space available.  Please email us at howdy@hootenannybrooklyn.com to schedule. Our afternoon Art classes are small and fill quickly so we are not able to accommodate trials. Please email us if you would like more details about any of our classes.

Is it OK for more than one adult to come to class?

For Music and Movement Classes multiple parents, grandparents, and, or caregivers are welcome to attend class at any time—no need to ask! For Art Classes, due to space, please limit adults to one, except for Family Classes and Stop, Collaborate and Listen.

How do I download my Music Together songs?

All the info to do that is here.

Why are your Music Together and Canta Y Baila classes mixed ages?

Classes with children of different ages have intellectual and social benefits for both younger and older children. In fact, it’s the learning environment recommended by many early childhood researchers. Older children learn empathy and awareness of others, while developing leadership qualities and gaining self-confidence. Younger children learn by imitating the older ones and often show more complex behaviors earlier than usual. Even babies benefit by being in an environment that gives them lots of opportunities to observe the behavior of children of varying ages. Plus, it allows everyone—siblings, parents, grandparents, caregivers—to share in the experience together!

Can I start classes after the session has begun?

Yes! We are happy to have you in any class that still has space. When you register on-line you will automatically be pro-rated for the remaining classes.

Can I change classes mid-session?

While we cannot guarantee that we will have availability, we always do our absolute best to accommodate changing nap schedules and other unpredictable schedule changes in family life! We will try to change your enrollment to any class that has open spots. Email howdy@hootenannybrooklyn.com for class change requests. Please include a few options for times that would work for you.

Can I be on a waitlist for a class?

Of course. If a class is full email us at howdy@hootenannybrooklyn.com and let us know which class or classes you would like to be on the waitlist for.

My older child has the day off from school. Can I bring them?

Yes! If we are running classes on a day when schools are in session you can bring your older child to class. If your older child will be coming for an Art class please let us know so we can prepare supplies for them. No need to tell us in advance for Music Together classes.

Do you offer a discount if we take more than one class?

Yes, each additional class registration is discounted by $10!

Do you do school pick-up for the pre-k-5 drop-off classes?

We are happy to help arrange a pick-up for any school with 4 or more kids attending a class at the Annex or at Hootenanny. If you’re interested in arranging after-school pick-up, please call us at 718-369-0528.
